Inside the CDI, HMH COVID-19 Variant Surveillance System

Scientists at the Hackensack Meridian Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI) and at the Hackensack Meridian Health Biorepository (Bio-R) have tracked the rise of variants since 2020.
Their high-throughput analysis of the specimens collected across the Hackensack Meridian Health network have allowed clinicians to better know the shifting dynamics of the pandemic - and to help guide treatment, in many cases.
The Hackensack Meridian Health video team visited the CDI and the Bio-R in February 2022, ahead of the arrival of the Omicron BA.2 variant.
Dr. David Perlin, the CDI’s scientific officer, and colleagues spoke about their work over the last two years - and what the evolution of the SARS-CoV-2 virus may bring next to the world.
