Community Conversations with the CDI: Talking Women’s Heart Health

Women’s heart health was the subject of a special kickoff event in the “Community Conversations with the CDI” – a three-year lecture series for the general public.

The kickoff event was held during the Count Basie Center for the Arts and Hackensack Meridian Riverview Medical Center HeartHealthExpo taking place at the Basie’s Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre in Red Bank on Feb. 9.

The “Community Conversations with the CDI” hour-long panel featured experts from Hackensack Meridian Health and the CDI, including: Evelyn Minaya, M.D., Obstetrics and Gynecology; Rajney Bais, M.D., Internal Medicine; Dawn Calderon, D.O., Cardiology; David Leopold, M.D., Integrative Health and Medicine; Claire Carter, Ph.D., researcher at the CDI; and Ravi Diwan, M.D., Cardiology.

The experts fielded questions from the crowd about the particular cardiovascular risks women face. The experts answered with the latest therapies, interventions, proactive measures, and research.

The moderator was Alla Rabinovich, the chief operating officer of the CDI.

“It was a great event, and this is a topic that is personal and close to my heart for a variety of reasons, like many who attended the event,” said Rabinovich. “We hope these ‘Community Conversations’ help start discussions in New Jersey – and beyond.”

The series is sponsored by the Women’s Heart Fund, a philanthropic arm of Hackensack Meridian Health Meridian Health Foundation. The lectures will focus on topics relevant to community members throughout the state, including heart disease, breast and ovarian cancer, vaccines, Alzheimer’s Disease and diabetes.

“Community Conversations with the CDI” is scheduled to run through 2023. The dates, times and locations will be announced prior to each lecture.
