CDI Head Perlin Takes Part in Morris Arts’ ‘Great Conversations’
October 14, 2020
A wide-ranging talk that focused on the uncertainties and challenges of COVID-19 held by Morris Arts featured insights from David Perlin, Ph.D., the chief scientific officer and senior vice president of the Hackensack Meridian Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI).
Perlin was one of eight panelists who included executives, educators, and other professionals.
Among the topics: how to test for SARS-CoV-2, how to effectively get a vaccine available, and how the tide could potentially turn in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Perlin, founding head of the CDI, spoke from experience with the CDI’s well-publicized response to the pandemic since the virus arrived in New Jersey earlier this year. His insights from decades of studying outbreaks and infectious pathogens informed much of the talk.
This was the twelfth annual Great Conversations event – but the first to be held from home. Perlin is just the latest participant from Hackensack Meridian Health to take part in the Great Conversations. Previous years have included the voices of: Robert C. Garrett, FACHE, the chief executive officer of the health network; Bonita Stanton, M.D., founding dean of the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine; Jeffrey Boscamp, M.D., vice dean of the medical school and a professor of pediatrics; Ihor Sawczuk, M.D., now the chief research officer and president of the northern region; Patrick Roth, M.D., chairman of the Department of Neurology at Hackensack University Medical Center; Nancy Corcoran-Davidoff, executive vice president and chief experience officer; and Andre Goy M.D., M.S., physician-in-chief of Oncology.
