Dhanya Dhanyalayam, Ph.D. (Postdoctoral fellow)
Dr. Dhanyalayam’s research is focused on understanding the role of adipocytes in the progression of metabolic syndromes and its effect on the clinical outcome of infectious diseases such as Chagas Heart Disease and COVID-19. She also investigates the role of pathogenic adipocytes in the severity of COVID-19 patients with metabolic syndromes, T2DM and cardiovascular diseases.

Neelam Oswal, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Neelam.Oswal@hmh-cdi.org

Dr. Oswal research interests are focused on the underlying mechanisms involved in TB reactivation in patients with metabolic diseases. Currently, she is investigating the role of adipocytes derived factors in the pathogenesis of pulmonary TB infection in a murine TB model. She is also exploring various techniques to efficiently isolate adipomes in the blood samples of TB patients (with and without metabolic syndromes) to identify therapeutic targets.

Jyothi Nagajyothi, Ph.D.

Hariprasad.Thangavel, Ph.D. (Postdoctoral fellow)
Dr. Thangavel’s primary research is focused on investigating the role of adipose tissue/adipocytes, both in physiological and pathological conditions, in the pathogenesis of metastatic breast cancer and metabolic syndromes. His research goal is to identify potential biomarkers needed for early detection, intervention, and treatment of breast cancer/metastatic breast cancer and the prevention of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
