Grant and Manuscript Editing

Program Overview

Securing funding and publishing high-quality manuscripts are essential components of a successful scientific enterprise. The Grant and Manuscript Editing Core offers HMH CDI faculty and research staff a comprehensive range of services to enhance the clarity, coherence, and impact of their grant proposals and manuscripts.

Grant and Manuscript Editing Core’s Mission

The Grant and Manuscript Editing Core is committed to supporting HMH CDI researchers in their scientific pursuits by helping them maximize the impact of their scientific writing with the goal of obtaining research funding or publishing the results of their research.

Services Provided

Grant editing

Faculty members and postdocs are encouraged to seek grant writing support at any stage of the grant writing process: from conceiving the specific aims to editing complete drafts to discussing summary statements prior to writing revised proposals. The faculty member or postdoc will work with the grant editing core to make sure that:

  • The proposal aims are well-founded by the preliminary data and cohesive but not inter-dependent
  • The gap in knowledge is compelling and articulated clearly
  • The approach is well-motivated and clear
  • The suitability of the PI to the project is high

Manuscript editing

CDI scientists will be assisted with writing clear and persuasive manuscripts where each section (Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion) serves its specific purpose.

Note: Manuscripts at early stages will not be edited directly but will be returned to the author with suggestions for improvement.
